Forget the heels, forget the Jimmy Chu's and put aside the Gaga skyscrapers... heading in to summer 2011-12, it's all about the sensible flatties on your feet.

As the weather warms up and we're stripping off those extra layers, early indications are showing that stylish girls are shedding heavy shoes in favour of flats, ballet-slippers and lace-up school-type shoes in a multitude of designs and colours.

Cute is back when it comes to feet, and colours are where it's at with floral prints (yes, prints on shoes!) and bright pinks, oranges and earthy ochres are appearing on fashionable feet everywhere.

Look out for a proliferation of brands plying their flat-ranges as the mercury climbs during spring in the temperate zone and the build-up and wet season in the tropics!
