You heard right, the Audrey Hepburn classic is now vintage (and we're not talking recent vintage here!). The iconic scene where an immaculately dressed Hepburn pulls up draped in a full-length black Givenchy gown, kitten heels and a seriously chunky strand of pearls steps out of a cab to chow down on a croissant and essentially has her "breakfast" at Tiffany's is forever etched in to the great moments of cinema. Even to this day, Breakfast at Tiffany's inspires women on fashion... from the sunglasses to the gloves, the black gown, the timeless French-rolled hair and the unforgettable jewellery. This movie, perhaps more than any other changed that way that we looked at fashion. We saw it as more than clothing... we saw it as accessories. We looked at jewellery as more than just trinkets to mark engagements and weddings. We saw jewellery as something truly desirable on a mass-scale. Teenage girls at the cinemas now saw diamonds as "a girl's best friend" and not just an expensive indulgence. Millions of women emulated Hepburn's look. The iconic Jackie Kennedy/Onassis even borrowed Hepburn's look and made it her own. French actress Audrey Tatou has also been mentioned as a major derivation of the Audrey Hepburn look. And now that this gem of Hollywood memory has hit it's golden anniversary, it's time to revisit the silver-screen's most influential fashion movie. Enjoy a little Breakfast for yourself. Maybe even heat up a croissant and indulge a little while you're watching! |

Few labels can retain their coolness after five decades. Chanel. Yes. Tiffany's. Yes. And now the movie that made the diamond and accessory powerhouse more famous than their products ever could have has turned 50.
