Asbestos fears in local reserve

juc park2 Part of a local park's been fenced off, after traces of unbroken bits of asbestos were detected in a sample of recently laid topsoil.

The Surf Coast Shire says contractors had put a pipe in the Jan Juc Creek Reserve as part of the RACV irrigation works at the Torquay Golf Course.

The council's now working with the EPA and RACV to clean up the affected part of the park as soon as possible.
