crash marcus hill 2 It's now believed a man killed in a car crash on the Bellarine at the weekend might have had a heart attack behind the wheel.

The 73-year-old's car crashed through a paddock fence on Queenscliff Road on Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses performed CPR but the Point Lonsdale local died at the scene from a suspected cardiac arrest.

The death takes this year’s road toll to 92, five more than at this time last year.

It will be removed from the road toll figures if it’s found the man died from a heart attack before the accident occurred.
