Two men are being hailed heroes after a house fire in North Geelong.
A blaze broke out in the bedroom of the Thompson Road unit just after 10 this morning, forcing the closure of the road for a short time. A 71-year-old woman has been treated by paramedics for a sprained arm and minor burns before being taken to Geelong Hospital. Mark Stevens from the CFA says they could be investigating a fatal fire if it wasn’t for two men who came to her aid:
One of those men, Richard Marlow, tells K-ROCK what happened:
The CFA says the second man, a postie, left before they could thank him and would like him to get in touch. A cigarette is believed to have started the fire.
