Warning signs asking people to stay out of a couple of local waterways have finally been removed.

A blue-green algae outbreak’s seen both the lower Barwon River estuary and Lake Connewarre closed for months.

The Department of Sustainability and Environment tells K-ROCK there is still some algal material present, but that it’s now below alert levels and no longer poses a threat to human health.
