Napthine’s broken promise sinks Geelong jobs plan

Car shipping Thousands of jobs will be created with a new container port for Melbourne expected to be announced today, but it will almost certainly sound the death knell for plans to relocate Melbourne’s car shipping industry to Geelong.

The state government will announce the billion-dollar container port today.

It will be the first major project since the BAILLIEU government took office 18-months ago.

But while the new facility will be paid for in part by the private sector, Labor’s Ports spokesman and Member for Tarneit TIM PALLAS says it’ll mean the Geelong project won’t go ahead:
