A man who accessed thousands of child porn images has walked free from a Geelong court.

In fact FRANCIS HENDERSON and his co-accused, both now living in Newry in Gippsland, had close to 7,000 images on two computers belonging to the 72-year-old, mostly of children under 12.

The Geelong Magistrates Court hasn't bought his story that he only looked at them to monitor what his co-accused was doing, giving him a suspended jail term and putting him on the Sex Offenders Register for eight-years.

His co-accused pled guilty to four counts of making and possessing child pornography in 2011 and was given a 12-month sentence suspended for two-years and two-year community-based order.
