Qantas will reportedly close its Tullamarine maintenance base within months, with the Avalon facility also likely to be gone within two-years.

According to some media, a review by the airline recommends the closure of Tullamarine, with workers to be told the bad news in two-weeks time.

The 660 staff at Avalon will be told on the same day their jobs won't last more than a couple of years.
