Baillieu abandons Geelong car trade move

Car shipping The Baillieu government is being accused of a cruel deception after finally confirming Melbourne’s car shipping trade will not be moved to Geelong.

The move would have created hundreds of local jobs but the state opposition’s been saying for months it would never get off the ground.

Last week Shadow ports spokesman TIM PALLAS told out newsroom the industry never wanted the roll on-roll off trade shifted from Melbourne, one of several problems that made the move impossible.

The BAILLIEU government issued a media release in the early hours of the morning confirming that the change has been abandoned, prompting a stinging attack from Mr PALLAS:
