It's been revealed half inmate population at Lara’s Barwon Prison have tested positive to drug use.

According to News Limited up to 30 prisoners around the state are failing or refusing drug tests each week.

Corrections Victoria says prisoners who test positive, refuse or interfere with a test are disciplined.
