The state government will pour almost one million dollars into a new home for the Torquay SES.

Spring Street says it doesn't normally fund SES facilities but has made an exception with the Surf Coast unit.

There have been fears it may have been forced to close without financial help.

The government’s agreed to hand over $850,000.
