A well-known Geelong businessman has been found guilty of indecent assault over an incident involving a 19-year-old woman. 74-year-old RAY ABIKHAIR, of Aberdeen Street, has been convicted and fined $3000 on three counts of indecent assault. The court was told ABIKHAIR started a conversation with the Deakin University student at an ice cream shop on the waterfront and then followed her out. The woman said ABIKHAIR began speaking in a sexual manner, before offering her $500 and touching her leg. She said he then hugged and kissed her on the neck as she attempted to leave. ABIKHAIR denied all charges and claimed the woman was lying in an attempt to make money. ABIKHAIR is the managing director of Geelong business McCanns Plumbing Plus. He is expected to appeal against the conviction. Picture: Ray Abikhair (Geelong Advertiser www.geelongadvertiser.com.au) |
