A policing blow for the region's coastal communities with police from the Bellarine Peninsula to be used to fill shortfalls in Geelong and Corio.
The Police Association claims the new roster scheme will see less officers around Queenscliff, Portarlington and Drysdale and Ocean Grove during the days, and is short-changing the growing areas. But local police command say officers will still respond to any emergencies on the Peninsula. The association also says the new system will put Geelong officers at risk because they will need to wait for members to come from distant parts of the region for back-up.
