Kids left stranded as teachers walk out

Colac Primary School GoogleMaps Four local schools are among around a-hundred state wide that have closed for the day today as teachers walk out over pay and conditions.

Hundreds of teachers from the region will also board buses and head to Melbourne toi take part in a mass rally and march to state parliament.

Students at Point Lonsdale Primary School, Oberon Primary School, Colac Primary School and Surf Coast College have all been told to stay home today as their schools will be locked up.

Other schools have told parents of students in individual classes to make other arrangements for their children to be cared for.

Some students will also have tomorrow off because their schools have scheduled curriculum days.

The Australian Education Union has rejected the Baillieu government's offer of a 2.5 per cent pay rise, demanding premier TED BAILLIEU fulfil his election promise to make Victorian teachers the best paid in Australia.

MARY BLUETT from the union says she knows today’s stoppage won’t win many fans among parents but any future action won’t be quite as disruptive:
