A Jan Juc man has been charged over the brutal bashing of a father in front of his son at Melbourne’s Docklands Stadium after an AFL match. The 56-year-old victim has told police he was standing in an elevator with his 28-year-old son after the Richmond-St Kilda game last Friday when they were confronted by a group of men. The group had just been ejected from a bar at the stadium. The victim says one of the men asked him what he was looking at, then attacked him. He was bashed so badly his face was left cut and bleeding with two black eyes, one of which was swollen closed. Police are going over security footage from the concourse of the ground, but stadium staff have confirmed an incident took place after the game. A 37-year-old man from Jan Juc has been charged with assault and has been bailed by police to face court on August 18. A second man, thought to be aged in his 20s, was also arrested yesterday but has been release while police make further inquiries. No names have been released and the victim has requested his name not be published. Picture: The victim of the Docklands Stadium attack (supplied) |
