Geelong’s woken to a thick blanket of fog this morning, prompting warnings from police for drivers to slow down and use their headlights even after the sun rises. The mist settled over most of the region during the night and while it’s now cleared in the CBD it’s expected to hang around for a while in some areas today thanks to the still conditions. However the Bureau of Meteorology says it expects it to eventually clear to a fine and sunny day with a top of 16. Despite the thick fog Avalon Airport says delays are not expected.
