For the first time, a coroner has formally ruled that a dingo took Azaria Chamberlain from a camp site at Uluru 32 years ago. It’s the fourth inquiry into the death of the nine week old during a family holiday. LINDY CHAMBERLAIN-CREIGHTON and her former husband MICHAEL CHAMBERLAIN sat together in court as coroner ELIZABETH MORRIS told the hearing the case had gone on for too long and it was time for it to be closed. LINDY CHAMBERLAIN was initially jailed after being convicted of AZARIA’s murder while MICHAEL was found guilty of being an accessory and was given a suspended sentence. But the couple were exonerated following a royal commission in 1987. Had she survived, Azaria would have turned 32 yesterday. Picture: Surrounded by a media throng, Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton and her husband Rick Creighton arrive at Darwin Airport ahead of today’s finding. |
