FORD has reportedly admitted it's considering job cuts as sales of the aging Falcon continue to slide.
The company's told News Limited it's looking at job losses – or in Ford terms ‘down balancing’ - and increased shut-downs after Falcon sales fell by almost a quarter over the last twelve-months. Any new sackings at Geelong or Broadmeadows would come on the back of 2-hundred-and-fourty job losses at Ford last year. Ford was handed more than $100-million in taxpayer funds earlier this year but still made a $290-million loss last month. The car maker says it’s held talks with unions about possible ‘down balancing’ or increasing the number of shut-downs. Ford workers are already facing a week-long shut down from Friday of next week, with almost 2,000 workers sent home on half pay.
