Rising heat costs lead to more sick locals

old cold1 Doctors are seeing more sick elderly patients, are who going without heating because of the rising energy costs.

Several elderly patients have been treated at Geelong Hospital for pneumonia and chest infections this week,  and while some have heating at home, they've admitted to leaving it off because they can't afford to pay for it.

Dr JANE OPIE from Barwon Medicare Local says she’d like to see heated public spaces for the elderly during the day.
