More than one-thousand local drivers are on the roads with just one point left on their licences.

When a driver loses all their points they can choose to keep one point for 12-months ,or have their licence suspended for three.

The single point acts like a bond and if they lose it their licence is suspended for twice the original time.

The Geelong Advertiser says more than a-thousand Geelong drivers have opted to take their chances with the single-point system in the last year.
