The state’s hospital waiting lists have blown out by 46,000 – enough people to fill the Docklands stadium – although the news is much better for Geelong.
Almost 6,000 Victorians were added to hospital waiting lists in the last year, and the Royal Childrens Hospital is among the worst affected with over 3,000 kids now waiting for surgery. But Geelong Hospital says its surgery waiting times are being met, with a new report showing category one elective surgery patients at Barwon Health are treated within five days, well within the 30-day target. There's also been a reduction in the number of urgent patients on the elective surgery list, with more than 1,700 patients admitted to hospital in the three months to March. |
