The local animal shelter's worried about the growing number of large dogs being dumped there.
The Geelong Animal Welfare Society says many dogs are getting bored in backyards over winter as their owners are unable to walk them as often. It says that often leads to the animals being dropped at the centre because owners become frustrated at their dog’s behaviour. It's currently looking after 45 dogs and, for the first time, is close to running out of food. Dogs can be re-homed from the centre, which is on Portarlington Road in Moolap. Donations of food can be made directly to the centre. |
