Geelong's race for the city’s first popularly elected mayor could have another candidate.

Chamber of Commerce chief BERNADETTE UZELAC says she's been approached to run in the mayoral race in October, but says she hasn’t made any decision just yet.

But the local businesswoman believes more people should take on the challenge of becoming the city’s first elected mayor.

If she does nominate, she'll be up against current mayor JOHN MITCHELL, and local businessman KEITH FAGG - who've confirmed they want the top job.
