A man's been rescued after falling into the Barwon River near Buckley's Falls.

The SES and CFA were called just after 5:30 yesterday afternoon after a man became stuck on a small grassed island in the middle of the river, after falling in trying to retrieve a remote controlled boat.

They’ve had to use an Inflatable Rescue Boat to get to the man.

Once he reached solid ground he was able to walk to the ambulance for a check over.
