44-year-old Evangelos Goussis was charged late last week over the murder of 28-year-old Shane Chartres-Abbott, who was shot dead outside his Reservoir home in June 2003. He's due to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court this morning for a procedural hearing. The killing of Chartres-Abbott has been the subject of a lengthy investigation by Victoria Police's Taskforce Briars and the Australian Crime Commission. Goussis was arrested on Friday. Last week police extradited another man from Queensland and charged him over the same murder, while a former gangland hitman has already been convicted and is currently serving a prison sentence. At the time of his arrest he claimed two police officers were also involved, but the pair have never been charged. Police say they expect further arrests in relation to the Chartres-Abbott killing.
