A Melbourne construction company has been fined after a Geelong court convicted it of providing an unsafe workplace at a block of units in Hamlyn Heights.

MZK Constructions, which is based in Delahey in Melbourne’s west, pleaded guilty to two charges in the Geelong Magistrates Court over an incident in January 2022.

WorkSafe Victoria said one of its inspectors saw two employees working at a height of five metres without floor protection or adequate guard rails.

Inspectors noticed noticed other work being carried out in contravention of infringement notices in multiple follow up visits.

Mzk Construction Pty Ltd was fined $30,000 and a conviction was recorded.
