‘Above’ fire danger forecast for our region

Victoria’s bushfire outlook contains some worrying warnings for our region.

A wet few years in Geelong and the Surf Coast has the region forecast to have above average fire danger.

Most of Victoria’s potential for fires has been listed as ‘normal’

The CFA’s Alen Slijpcevic said the rain of previous summers provided more fuel.

“Especially coupled with the outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology, the next three months will be warmer during the day and night in temperatures,” he said.

“Also, there will be less rainfall.”

The Fire Danger Period is already underway for Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Golden Plains and Borough of Queensciffe.
