The Victorian Ambulance Union have taken to social media to show their concerns about ramping in Geelong.

A video posted last night shows 11 ambulances ramped at Geelong hospital, with the account saying 11 crews were ramped, with some for up to three hours.

The posts across multiple platforms were met with many shares and reactions from the the community, expressing their own concerns about the impact on local health.

It also comes with a reminder that we need to avoid using ambulances when they are not needed in order to leave them free for emergencies.

While not speaking on last night’s incident, member for Geelong Christine Couzens said we all needed to be aware of the challenges of the health system.

“If people are not in an emergency situation, there are other avenues,” she said.

“These include nurse on call or the Bellmont clinic we’ve set up that people can go to rather than hold up things in emergency.”

“Ambulance Victoria paramedics are committed to transferring patients to hospital care as soon as possible to allow our crews to get back on the road and respond to emergency incidents in our community,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
