Anthony to carry the flag for the games

An ultimate sporting honour for a local athlete.

Jakara Anthony will be one of the two Australian’s to carry the flag at the opening ceremony of this year’s Winter Olympics.

The Barwon Heads local saying she is still lost for words at the news.

“It’s probably one of the biggest honours you can receive as an Olympic athlete,” she told media.

“Thinking back to growing up and seeing all the flag bearers that we’ve had for Australia, Summer and Winter, and to now get to stand alongside them and have that honour, it’s pretty mind-blowing.”

Anthony will carry the flag alongside moguls teammate Matt Graham.

“I’ve always looked up to him; he’s four years ahead of me,” she said.

“I’ve seen a lot of milestones of Matt’s career. Now we get to share this one, so we’re really racking up the milestones together.”
