Arrest in Geelong’s CBD

A man has been arrested in Geelong’s CBD after police were called to reports of a person breaking into cars.

Police on foot patrol received several Triple Zero calls about incidents on Brougham Street and Gheringhap Street around 7pm Wednesday.

They found a 27-year-old in Little Ryrie Street, allegedly with stolen goods on him.

The man from Melbourne was arrested and charged with offences including theft from cars, handling stolen goods and drug possession.

He was remanded to face Geelong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Police say two of the vehicles were unlocked with items stolen including laptops, money, phones and glasses.

Officers are asking anyone with information on the thefts to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
