Arts trail a big win for the region

A big boost for the local economy from the Surf Coast arts trail.

Surf Coast shire saying the trail generated more than 200 thousand dollars across the winter period.

Council adding that feedback from across the region had been incredibly strong from the trail.

Cr Leon Walker said it was a great outcome for the region.

“Aside from being such a warm, welcoming and inspiring community event the trail brings significant economic benefits to our creative and wider business sectors, on what would otherwise likely be a pretty quiet winter weekend,” he said.

“Forty-three per cent of patrons this year came from outside Surf Coast Shire, including New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia and the ACT, and 61 per cent of visitors stayed overnight in the shire.

“And while the economic benefits are important, what can’t be measured is the joy, connection, satisfaction and motivation people took home from meeting and talking with so many of our talented artists.”
