Bendigo Bank is the latest to close its branch in part of our region.
The bank announcing it will shut its Corio branch at the end of September, citing the move of customers online.
The bank says it was not a move taken lightly.
“The decision to close a branch is never taken lightly and follows careful consideration of a range of factors, including how customers are using the branch and the availability of alternative banking services,” they said in a statement.
“This decision to close the branch takes into consideration the proximity of other branches in the surrounding area.”
It will leave the closest branches in Geelong West, and a community bank in Lara.
It follows CBA closing branches in Belmont and Lara in June.
That decision was heavily criticised by the Financial Sector Union.
