More than 300 locals are needed to donate blood over the holiday season.
Australian Red Cross Lifeblood has launched its annual Christmas Blood Blitz, to ensure stocks are high over the break.
An extra 340 donations are needed at the Geelong Blood Bank between December 22 and January 2.
Stephanie Reynolds from Lifeblood Geelong said it was important more people roll up their sleeves, as regular donors often take holidays.
She said the blood was used for different situations including accidents.
“Cancer patients, trauma victims and newborn babies are just a few of those that will need blood over the next fortnight,” she said.
“The festive season is traditionally a time for blood donors and plasma donations because many of our regular donors do take a break.”
