There are claims the aviation industry is suffering due to a lack of competition, following news hundreds of Bonza staff will officially lose their jobs after the budget airline went into administration.

The airline was offering flights to and from Avalon, providing locals with an alternative airline and offering flights to destinations including the Sunshine Coast.

However the airline went into administration in April.

Administrators say they had no choice to terminate the staff, as they had not received any buyers for the airline.

Michael Kaine from the Transport Workers Union said the latest development was bad news.

He said more workers could soon be lost to the industry, as they wait for their entitlements.

“Administrators should get a wriggle on, finalise this process so workers can access the government entitlements,” he said.
