A local drilling company has been named Business of the Year at the Geelong Business Excellence Awards held at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday night.
Corio-based Directbor has been recognised for its growth of the last three years and its innovative practices within the drilling industry.
“The business has shown massive revenue growth and had invested heavily in a modern facility and capex over the last three years and had implemented significant innovative practices within their industry which has allowed greater efficiency, effectiveness and best of all safety in this niche but dangerous industry,” a post from the Geelong Business Excellence Awards social media page read.
“The business had very clear marketing plans and long-term contracts and alliances with those within their industry.
“Their philosophy of client first means their retention of major clients is exceptional.
“The business had very clear people and culture strategies and was ticking all the boxes required.
“They have an extensive health and safety policy, comprehensive job safety risk assessments and audits which aligns with their Safe Always value.
“The business also had a very clear handle on their finances and risks which impressed the judges.”
Aaron Finch from Directbor said to him winning the award is great recognition for a lot of hard work.
“It’s incredible, it’s a game changer for us it really is,” he said.
“All that hard work just goes to show that you can get there.”
Mr. Finch said for his business a strong culture is key to success.
“Without a good, strong culture you don’t have a strong team and without a strong team you don’t have a company.”
He said being a part of the Geelong business community is really special.
“The people around you and the support you get, coming to events like this you don’t realise how much support you’ve got from the Geelong community.”
