There are concerns fixing potholes will not solve the state of Victoria’s roads.
The Labor government has come under fire over the state of the roads.
It follows the death of a motorcyclist after he struck a pothole on the Western Freeway near Ballarat on the weekend.
A recent report found almost half of Victoria’s roads were in poor or very poor condition.
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said more needs to be done than fixing just potholes.
He said some roads in the Geelong region needed to be completely overhauled,
“We need to spend serious money on getting the roads fixed and it needs to happen now,” Cr Kontelj said.
“We can’t wait and talk about buck passing – it needs to start now.
“We can’t wait for the election day and beyond.”
