The CFMEU has pulled out of its attempts to be involved in worker pay deal negotiations with the City of Greater Geelong council.

But the union this week wrote to the fair work commission to scrap its application, according to the Herald Sun.

In June the council made it clear they were opposed to the union being involved in the process.

“Our Council’s focus is on delivering quality services and infrastructure for our growing population, but the CFMEU’s attempts to muscle into our workforce will only cause angst and damage our culture,” Geelong Council CEO Ali Wastie said

“(The City of Greater Geelong) respects our employees’ right to representation and remain committed to achieving a positive outcome.”
