Charges over attempted armed robbery

police sign new againA South Melbourne man has been charged in relation to an alleged armed hold up in Geelong’s CBD.

He allegedly went into the Ryrie Street jeweller with a fake gun on June 20, assaulting a customer before taking off on a scooter.

No-one was injured.

Police raided a South Melbourne property on Wednesday, allegedly finding a gel blaster, electric scooters, an electric bike and quantity of drugs.

A 37-year-old has been charged with offences including robbery, handle stolen goods and drug possession.

He faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday evening.
