Charges have been laid over an hours-long siege in Norlane, with a 26-year-old man set to face court on Friday.
Officers were first called to Camellia Crescent around 1pm on Thursday to reports a man had allegedly produced an axe in a dispute with another person.
Police alleged the man confronted officers with a metal rod after attempts to negotiate, with O/C foam and a taser deployed without effect.
Just before 6.30pm, the Norlane man was arrested after lengthy negotiations with the Critical Incident Response Team.
He was charged with make threats to kill, criminal damage, possess dangerous article, assault police officer (indictable), throw missile to injure and common law assault.
He was remanded in custody overnight to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
