A Corio man has been arrested following protests in Melbourne last month.
The 24-year-old hit with charges including assaulting police, behaving in a disorderly manner, and was bailed to face court next week.
“The man, aged 24-years-old, was charged with reckless conduct endangering person, assault police, discharge missile, behave in a disorderly manner and fail to answer bail,” a police statement said.
“He was directly presented to Melbourne Magistrates’ Court where he was bailed to appear on 20 November.”
Police have now released the images of eight people they want to identify in relation to other incidents at the protest.
Deputy Commissioner Regional Operations Bob Hill said it was essential people involved were held to account.
“The behaviour we witnessed at this protest by a group of counter protestors was nothing short of deplorable,” he said.
“While people have a right to protest peacefully, they do not have a right to unleash violence.
“Officers are drawn from across the state to respond to these protests, and they do so while committed to keeping the peace and maintaining community safety.
“We are absolutely committed to identifying the alleged offenders and presenting them before the courts.”
