Greater Geelong Neighbourhood Watch are calling for locals to take part in an online fire safety course.
The Prevent Detect Escape helps locals get to know the risks around their homes, and how best to prepare.
“The referral pathways in the course provide support for behaviours such as hoarding, smoking inside, or the inability to self-evacuate,” the groups Facebook page said.
“The pathways link individuals, service providers and the fire services to work on shared strategies and solutions together.
The group quoted multiple locals with positive feedback.
“I love the way the course is simplified for everyone to learn” one said.
“I found the structure easy to follow: Prevent, Detect, Escape – it makes the message memorable. The videos and examples helped me understand real risks and how to act in case of fire,” another added.
The course can be accessed at the CFA’s website.
