Fire crews have battled a blaze at the Anglesea tip.
Emergency services were called to Coalmine Road just before 5.30pm Monday, finding a 25 square metre fire in hard rubbish.
An excavator was used to help pull apart the rubbish.
Eight CFA vehicles were on scene with the support of FRV.
A community information message was issued at one stage for smoke in the area.
The incident was brought under control just after 6.30pm and declared safe around 8pm.
