The father of two children who died in a Corio shed fire says he has been through the worst 36-hours of his life.

Three-year-old Saige McGregor and sister Ashlynn, 18-months, died when the blaze broke out at their mother’s Officer Court home on Sunday.

Their siblings, Mavis, 6, and Isaac, 5, remain in a critical condition in the Royal Children’s Hospital

On Monday night Kane McGregor took to social media to say he was absolutely heartbroken.

“(The) only thing keeping me together is holding onto and fighting for my other two (children),” he wrote.

“Come on Mavis and Isaac, you are both so strong and way to [sic] stubborn to give in so keep fighting the winning fight.”

Mavis and Isaac both face further surgery after suffering life-threatening burns in the fire.

Their mother, Jasmine Beck, was also burned after entering the structure and dragging her children clear.

Investigations into the blaze are continuing but police are not treating it as suspicious.

Meantime a GoFundMe page set up to assist the devastated family has raised more than $28,000 in its first 24 hours.

Organiser Daina Leech said the family would never be the same without Saige and Ashlynn in their lives.

She said the surviving children have a long road ahead of them and still face multiple surgeries.

“The medical treatment these children will require if they pull through this will be life long.

“I’m hoping to help this family ease the financial cost of laying those beautiful babies to rest as this is such an unimaginable situation for any parent to go through.”
