A severe weather warning has been put in place for communities in the Otways and Surf Coast regions.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned locals that strong to damaging northwesterly winds are expected to hit from late Thursday night.
The cold front is expected to see winds averaging 55 to 65 km/h, with peak gusts of up to 100 km/h possible.

Winds are predicted to shift westerly and ease by late Friday morning.
Key areas told to stay alert include Lorne and Apollo Bay.
