The EPA and Geelong council officers are investigating the illegal dumping of a mountain of rubbish in Avalon.
The debris has emerged in recent days on Point Wilson Road.
It’s yet to be fully determined by authorities.
Authorised Officers are working with the EPA as part of the State Government’s “Cracking Down on Illegal Dumping” initiate as they conduct a full investigation.
The illegal dumping rubbish and building waste is treated as a serious offence and can attract fines of up to $10,000.
The City of Greater Geelong says cleaning up such mess costs rate-payers hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
Residents are being encouraged to help council by reporting any dumping on public land.
Any reports should include photographs or vehicle license plate numbers if possible. Reports can be made to EPA Victoria online or by calling their 24-hour pollution hotline on 1300 372 842
