Emergency markers are in place across Victoria to allow people to alert emergency services where they are if they get lost.
There are more than 200 across the state, including dozens along the Great Ocean Road and the Bellarine Rail Trail.
More than 20 are also in and around the You Yangs, with locals also able to use markers on the Geelong Ring Road.
Barwon Coast Committee has also proposed to have the devices in areas between Ocean Grove and Connewarre.
Police say anyone near a marker can use that as a reference when speaking to operators, allowing first responders to get to the scene sooner.
