An emergency warning for the bushfire at Carlisle River has extended east to include towns such as Forrest.
Authorities say people are in danger and need to take shelter now, as it is too late to leave the area safely.
The blaze has already burnt through more than 10,000 hectares and is not yet under control.
There area fears properties have been lost.
A watch and act to evacuate immediately remains in place for towns such as Yeodene and Murroon.
There is also a watch and act to monitor conditions in areas including Birregurra, Lorne, Wye River and Aireys Inlet.
