Geelong commuters are being warned to expect V-Line timetable changes ahead of some hot weather in the coming days.
A hot day with a top of 36 has been forecast for tomorrow prompting the rail operator to introduce an extreme heat schedules across the V-Line network.
It could mean travel delays or service changes.
Seymour, Shepparton, Bendigo, Swan Hill and Echuca lines will all have the timetable today, while Geelong, Warrnambool, Ballarat, Ararat, Horsham, Maryborough, Seymour, Shepparton, Bendigo, Swan Hill, Echuca, Traralgon, Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance lines will all have the timetable tomorrow.
“During the summer months, parts of V/Line’s network can be subject to extremely hot temperatures and we take extra precautions to make sure our train services run safely,” V-Line said in a statement.
“Trains that usually travel at up to 160km/h need to slow down to 90km/h or less because steel tracks expand in the heat.”
