Flood risk from rainfall

Large parts of Victoria's catchments are under a flood watch ahead of predicted rainfall over coming days (EMERGENCY VIC).

The Werribee River is on the flood watch list for dozens of the states waterways.

An advice alert has been issued for what emergency services expect will be widespread minor flooding due to rainfall over Sunday and Monday.

Over coming days sodden catchments across the state are predicted to receive flows from falls of between 25-60mm, and isolated totals of between 60- 80mm in some areas.

An embedded low pressure system is predicted to develop over far Western Victoria on Sunday evening, bring with it thunderstorms as it moves towards the central districts overnight into Monday.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s current forecast has rain clearing by Tuesday.
